It’s nine AM on a Sunday
\nThe regular crowd shuffles in
\nWith their bibles in hand they fill up the stands
\nI wish the girls showed some more skin<\/p>\n

They say Kirk can you tell me a fairy tale
\nOn TV and blogs and YouTube
\nSay something cute about tropical fruit
\nAnd prove scientists are the rubes<\/p>\n

Sing us a song you’re the banana man
\nSing us a song tonight
\nConvince us that all the word’s scientists
\nAre wrong and the fundies are right<\/p>\n

Dawkins is a famous biologist
\nWhose barbs cut me down like a knife
\nAnd he’s talking with Hitchins,
\nWho drinkin’ and bitchin’
\nThe way that he did his whole life.<\/p>\n

And there’s Darwin and Darrow and Feynman
\nAnd Russel and Randi and Penn
\nAnd Sagan and Sartre and Hemingway
\nBut I’m smarter than all of those men.<\/p>\n

It’s a pretty good crowd for a Sunday

And the church hall sounds like a carnival

\nAnd they tell me I’m great and put cash in the plate

The idea for this struck me this morning, and I cranked it out just now, so I may make a few revisions to it.<\/p>\n
