{"id":793,"date":"2009-07-01T21:12:16","date_gmt":"2009-07-02T02:12:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.davehitt.com\/blog2\/?p=793"},"modified":"2009-07-05T15:16:25","modified_gmt":"2009-07-05T20:16:25","slug":"pointless-invention","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.davehitt.com\/blog2\/pointless-invention\/","title":{"rendered":"Pointless Invention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;re attacked in the UK and defend yourself with a gun you <em>will <\/em>spend more time in jail than your attacker.\u00c2\u00a0 As a result both criminals and decent people are arming themselves with the next best thing \u00e2\u20ac\u201c knives.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.davehitt.com\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/not-stabby.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-794\" title=\"not-stabby\" src=\"http:\/\/www.davehitt.com\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/not-stabby-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"not-stabby\" hspace=\"3\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Britain is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-1196087\/Health-safety-ban-coffee-morning-pensioners-public-library--spill-hot-drinks-children.html\">even more<\/a> of a nanny state than the US, so it&#8217;s not surprising that for the past couple of years doctors have been whining about knives being pointy and citizens getting all stabby with them. A couple of years ago they when they suggested making pointy knives illegal, but\u00c2\u00a0 no one took them seriously.\u00c2\u00a0 But now <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesonline.co.uk\/tol\/news\/uk\/crime\/article6501720.ece\">anti-stab knives<\/a> have been invented.\u00c2\u00a0 (Click the photo for a better look.) They have a tiny, nearly useless\u00c2\u00a0 point on the end, under a blunt stubby section designed to snag on clothing if someone tries to stab a bad guy with it.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve worked in a restaurant, and chiefs are serious about their knives.\u00c2\u00a0 They&#8217;ll spend hundreds of dollars for one or two knives, and take with them when they leave work so no one else can use them.\u00c2\u00a0 They keep them extremely sharp, and they are all pointy.<\/p>\n<p>Considering how nanny the UK has become I&#8217;m guessing that in a couple of years pointy knives will be banned in professional kitchens, and then made illegal in the home as well.\u00c2\u00a0 You think English food sucks now?\u00c2\u00a0 Just wait.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;re attacked in the UK and defend yourself with a gun you will spend more time in jail than your attacker.\u00c2\u00a0 As a result both criminals and decent people are arming themselves with the next best thing \u00e2\u20ac\u201c knives.
