Blood Witness – A Novel by Dave Hitt

I wanted to read a novel about a Jehovah’s Witness becoming a vampire. JW’s are adverse to any kind of blood ingestion, so he’d have some trouble with that. On the other hand, they believe Christ died on a stake, not a cross, so crucifixes wouldn’t bother him.  It would be even more interesting to contrast the horror of being trapped in a mind-numbing cult to the horror of having to kill people, lots of people, to survive. But no such novel existed.
So I wrote one.
Chris Anderson is a high school senior, a Jehovah’s Witness who has discovered a strange new power he can’t quite control.  Catharine Nightshade is one of the world’s oldest vampires, and she’s on the prowl for a new lover. Together the two of them discover a threat that could result in the end of vampires everywhere, and change the world of man forever. And the only solution is to break the One Law that binds them all.

Way former. I escaped 30+ years ago. Wrote the novel 20+ years ago, which is why it’s set in the 80s. Bought the domain name 3 years ago. Figured it was about time to spring it on the world.

Escape from what? You don’t make people serve God! You have to accept it freely. Nobody make you worship by force. Nobody hold you against your will. If your not interested it all on you and nobody else. But you know that. O and your character was a witness and drank blood his not a witness no more, because witness is a verd. Something you are ways doing when you stop your not one! But you know that too!

“Witness is a verd”? I’ve misplaced my Goober/English – English/Goober dictionary, so you’ll have to ‘splain it to me, Loopy.
Chris drank blood for the first time in this week’s episode – #11. Did you just grab that episode, or listen to the whole thing leading up to it? That’s an awful lot of exposure to evil apostate literature.
I stand by my use of the word “escape.” Cults like Jehovah’s Witnesses use coercive methods to enslave their followers. Methods that are so coercive it takes most escapees at least five or six years to clean all the crap out of their heads and get on with a normal life. Then they still have to deal with relatives who, in the name of Jehovah, treat them worse that yesterdays garbage.
If you are trapped in that cult, you don’t even realize it. (That’s the nature of cults.) I would suggest you read “Crisis of Conscience” and/or “Combating Cult Mind Control.” It may just open your eyes. Be warned, though, that waking up leads to escaping, and escaping is a very painful, emotionally wrenching experience. Not as painful as turning into a vampire, but close.

I am not associated with JW at all, but I did once have a boyfriend break up with me after a fun weekend in Vegas…he did it for the JW’s…ugh.
Anyway, this is a fascinating story…love that the dad met his demise!

Hi I am in America on a road trip with another ex JW friend both now very committed born again atheists and both enjoying life to the full. Downloaded your book because of the Vampire factor and found the whole JW sub-plot really so accurate and a real surprise to be there. Told my wife about it who is on JW Recovery (thinkngal)who I told about and she mentioned on the book discussion small world as I hear you responded to her comment. John

That entire comment was totally incomprehensible. I’d like to ask if English is your second language before ruthlessly obliterating your attempt at using it. And boy, I wish the Churchies would learn how to type (speak?) so they didn’t all sound so ignorant. It really makes it an unfair fight when it seems like the only people capable of forming a coherent sentence are all on the same side.

I’m loving this book so far. In response to Dave No Hit. I also escaped this religion 30 years ago when I was a young man. I had to hide my true feelings about it to get away. These are very disturbed people. Sadly some of them are related to me. This is a great representation of a young man trapped in this religion. Thank you Hittman
